Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week 2011 Build-Up

I am suppose to be either in the market, buying materials or in the studio/factory inspecting the tailors, but am here in my room. Well since i wont want to waste the whole day, I decided to check on the various FASHION WEEKS that the company have missed this year and while checking on all the AFRICAN FASHION WEEKS, I decided to check on the MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK to see the build-up to the event.. Following the CFDA new fresh designers coming out. I cant but say it would be a very interesting event to attend.
I found the following pictures which i would share with you towards the end of the blog. Did i notice anything about this MERCEDES-BENZ FASHION WEEK its the way they prepare their platform.
Then i realize that some designers have to showcase their clothes at the VMAs, This is to make the public anticipate attending the fashion event to see what other designs to buy straight from the runway.

I hope to see something like this being sponsored by a Nigerian Brand. Thanks to ARISE FASHION WEEK. But we still need more brands to start their own.. Call us OLIVER TWIST.

 Thanks
Have been watching this clip since i woke up.. And the most intriguing part was when Mr West gave his chain to D'banj.. If am not mistaken the same thing was done to him when JAY-Z invited him on stage during a performance and gave him his chain and introduced him as his new signed act to ROC NATION
I think this is his way of showing D'banj that he is a certified 'G.O.O.D musician'

HOW TO DETERMINE BLAZERS THAT FIT

From experience, There are men for whom buying a blazer is a matter of price alone, and they sacrifice alot knowing how to determine blazer fit, as well as sport coat or suit jacket fit takes only a little time and minimal effort, with a big dividend of knowledge and style

So before you buy your next suit or sport coat, learn how to determine blazer fit all by yourself...

Measuring for Blazer fit:
Measuring to determine blazer fit is a matter of measuring your chest and knowing your shirt sleeve length. You'll need to obtain a tailor's or seamstress's soft measuring tape if you want to know how to determine blazer fit. First, measure your chest by wrapping the measuring tape around the fullest part of your chest just below your arms. Doing this yourself is easy and helps determine blazer fit when you extend your shoulder as you hold the tape.

Where the cuff should rest:
The jacket cuff should never rest against the back of your hand, and it should never touch the base of your palm. The truth is, this is a blazer and not an item of outerwear that you use to protect yourself against the elements. A suit jacket or blazer cuff should end a half-inch to three-quarters of an inch before reaching your palm. This allows you to wear a long-sleeve dress shirt without the two cuff competing for movement

How much Shirt Sleeve to Show:
Unbeknownst to most men, the shirt cuff is meant to be seen just a little. The amount, however varies from a quarter to one-half inch of the shirt cuff. This does not mean you should buy a shirt with longer sleeves. The shirt cuff should fit your arm properly and rest just as the base of your palm. You may need to have the jacket sleeves altered to achieve this look.

Proper Vent Fit:
The vent on a blazer or a suit jacket is meant to allow ease of movement when sitting. Many Italian jackets are vent-less, which has its place in the pantheon of style but you also end up with crumpled and wrinkled jackets because you sit on them. Good-news is that most HARKEN jackets are either Side-vented or Centre-vented. A centre-vented jacket is still the most versatile and particular for all men and it should never look stressed or pulled apart. The Fabric should simply lay over top of itself. If the vent looks splayed or pulled when you walk then the blazer is either too small or the cut is too narrow. A double vented (side-vented) has an aristocratic look, but once again, you'll be sitting on the back flap, which means pressing the jacket regularly

Some Dos and Don't s:
Avoid the childish act of stretching out your arms and flexing your back when trying on a blazer. They are not designed for this movement and even the best-made jacket will look silly. What you should do is determine whether you need a short, regular or long jacket. This is governed by your height and makes all the difference in the world in terms of final fit and look

If you are 5'7" a short jacket length is needed
If you are 5'8" to 6' you are a regular
If you are 6' to 6'3" you require a long
And anyone over 6'3" is an extra-long.
Properly fitting your blazer for length helps with the way the jacket will drape and your overall look.

Fit like a Glove:
The details of how to determine blazer fit may seem tedious, but once you do this you'll have a better understanding of how your measurements translate to better style. Wearing the right jacket is not always about spotting the latest trend or the hottest designer; sometimes it's just about how good a 44L blazer feels when you take the time to find the right fit.

Fashion Tips: How to Rock U-TEES with Structured Jackets

I was discussing over  cup of coffee with some Fashionitas on how to make a suit jacket look less rigid. Its sure an interesting conversation, as we talk and talk for close to 2 Hours

Woke up the morning before thenm and all my shirts were very dirty, I was confused. Even as a designer, we need a stylist to help us out with out everyday wears. You cant be an island by yourself. I had a pink U-Neck, and a Yellow U-Neck Tee. I dont want to go out looking flashy, so i called on my stylist friends and ask them which to choose.
And they suggest I wear the Pink shirt and a Structured Jacket Over it.

Now, After the meeting, I made up my mind to write on how to go about wearing ur U-Necks

Wearing a T-Shirt simply makes a great Suit Jacket look less rigid, Less Uptight. I personally like to wearr a white loose-fitting crew-neck tee- or one of those U-Necks- but you can ger away with anything. Try a rock-band tee, a college tee, or a solid-color, and wear it with a structured jacket for a nice contrast.

Good News is, Since you're not wearing Jeans exclusively anymore. Good! Now its time we add some colored chinos to your collections of Pants. Just remember: If they're Baggy, You're going yo look like your wifey went shopping for you at *God Knows Where*

Instead Yours should be trim and tapered-and dont even think about Pleats

Then put on a good pair of Loafers

Let your feet show you're not all busines.
Am going to teach you how to buy loafers and how to pull them off

How to Buy Loafers: Ask yourself if the loafers you're looking at are closer to boat shoes or to lace-ups. If the Silhouette is slim and Elegant and the leather looks like it would respond better to a good shine than to a tough breaking in, you've found the right pair

How to pull them off: Go Sockless, Loafers are the perfect shoes to wear with a suit san socks-its that hint of playfulness no one can see until you sit down and flash some ankle

HOW TO HIDE AN HANGOVER

It happens to the best of us...I'm talking about the morning after and I don't mean the pill! When you just can't call in to work one more time, how do you fix yourself up so that you don't look like you had about 6 too many tequila shots 7 hours prior? While there is no magic remedy I can prescribe you to alleviate your regret about the drunken events that occurred prior to you waking up with tell-tale puffy, dark bags under your eyes…I can help you disguise the physical evidence!
Here are some simple tricks and the science behind them that can help you look more awake, alert, and alive!

You need to reduce the puffiness around your eyes. You can do this by applying a cold compress. Use ice, cucumbers, cold spoon, whatever. Then, you are going to want to apply an eye cream/gel that contains caffeine, brown algae, or some other de-puffing ingredient. Apply this under your eyes and on your lids. Depending on what you decide to use, you may want to check to see if that particular product is safe for eyelids.

Prep your face! This is a step many makeup wearers do normally anyways but it is especially important to hiding a hangover! Moisturize, and then apply a foundation primer. This will help your foundation to stay put and prevent it from feathering or sinking in to wrinkles. You will also need to apply an eye shadow primer. This works in the same way as a face primer, keeping your eye shadow in place and preventing it from creasing or fading. A good primer makes the world of difference in keeping your makeup looking fresh throughout the day without having to do touch ups!

Now to bring some color into your face, use a cream based blush that is a little brighter than what you would usually wear. We will tone this down in the next step so don’t freak if you look like bozo! Usually, we would take the blush from the apples of your cheeks, up into your temples but for hangover disguising purposes, apply it to your apples only.

Next, you will want to even out your skin tone and chill that blush out
, go ahead and apply your foundation as you normally would. If you have an illuminating powder on hand mix a little of that into your foundation to give you a nice dewy glow. If you do not have any, do not try to substitute it with any other type of shimmery powder, just skip that step all together. Apply setting powder as normal. The purpose of doing blush before foundation is to create a more natural look. You will also get that dewy glow from the illuminating powder on top of your blush instead of underneath.

One of the most important steps in disguising a hangover is to get rid of those bags under your eyes!
To do this, you can use a light reflective concealer on the dark spots, blending out smoothly. If your bags are too serious to be hidden with just concealer, use any orange lipstick without shimmer and dab very lightly that on your dark bags as a corrector. There are actual correctors made specifically for this purpose but if you are not a makeup artist, you probably won’t have them on hand so orange lipstick will do just fine. The orange will cancel out blue/black spots. You can then apply your concealer on top of the orange corrector and ta-da, those dark circles have disappeared! Buying an actual corrector is a great investment! Go with a salmon color, which will cover a wider range of colors than pink, green, orange, and yellow concealers.

When applying eye makeup, skip anything with shimmer, which will highlight wrinkles and fine lines.
Stick with matte shadows, preferably light browns and natural colors, which will cover up redness on your eyes and prevent them from looking sunken in. Darker colors often create the illusion of sunken in eyes, which can be great for a sexy, smokey look. But for our purposes, we want to brighten up the face so skip those dark colors. The final step is your mascara; chose one in a lengthening formula, which will really help to open up your eyes. Skip volumizing or thickening formulas, which can cast tiny little shadows on your face and highlight under eye bags!

There it is; a complete hangover makeover with just a few adjustments to your regular beauty routine! Hopefully, you have learned:

1) Subtle ways to transform using makeup
2) When it is time to put down that Tequila shot
Stay fly ladies. Muuuah
